Anima / Animus

Jungian concepts representing the feminine (anima) and masculine (animus) poles of the psyche, present in tarot imagery.

Carl Jung identified these two poles as structuring forces of the unconscious. In tarot, cards like The Empress (anima) and The Emperor (animus) embody these energies.
