Papus
A French physician, occultist, and author, an important figure in late 19th-century esotericism who contributed to certain modern readings of tarot.
Papus played an important role in the diffusion of esoteric and occultist readings of tarot in France. His name remains linked to a period when tarot was strongly reinvested by initiatory and symbolist circles.
It is important to distinguish his interpretive contribution from the history of the Tarot de Marseille itself.
