Aleister Crowley: definition

Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) was a British occultist, linked to the Thoth Tarot and to a complex esoteric tradition that mixes magic, symbolism and kabbalah.

He conceived the Thoth Tarot together with the painter Lady Frieda Harris, a deck of great iconographic richness accompanied by his work The Book of Thoth, where he sets out his symbolic correspondences.

He does not belong to the history proper of the Marseille Tarot, but his influence on certain modern readings of tarot is immense, above all in the Anglo-Saxon esoteric currents.
