Archetype
A universal symbolic structure running through human experience and giving the arcana their depth beyond the immediate context.
To speak of archetype is to recognize that a card cannot be reduced to a one-time event. It points to a more general form: beginning, authority, desire, sacrifice, transformation, realization.
The archetypal approach makes it possible to read tarot as a coherent symbolic language rather than as a series of isolated predictions.
